COVID-19 Fund for Idaho has more than $1M in commitments

The COVID-19 Response and Recovery Fund for Idaho now has more than $1 million in commitments from foundations, companies and individuals throughout the state.

The first round of high-need grants – about $200,000 – will be approved by a Rapid Response Team comprised of community members from the regions being served, nonprofit leaders and others. Grants will go out this week to Idaho organizations helping individuals and families.

Grants will go out every week in April. The first round of funding will go to organizations that focus on:

  • Housing stability and services for people on the verge of homelessness
  • Physical and mental healthcare
  • Food insecurity
  • Domestic violence support
  • Childcare

Lead funding partners in this effort are:

  • M.J. Murdock Charitable Trust – $350,000
  • Micron Technology – $200,000+ through Micron Foundation and team member donations
  • Wells Fargo Foundation – $150,000
  • Blue Cross of Idaho Foundation for Health – $100,000

Additional funding partners are: Cambia Health Foundation, Northwest Area Foundation, JP Morgan Chase, the Amerisource Bergen Foundation and Avista Corp. Their contributions total $155,000.

Several ICF fundholders have contributed to the effort using their Donor Advised Funds including Idaho Gov. Brad Little, First Lady Teresa Little and their family. Other Donor Advised Funds making a gift are:

  • Carol MacGregor, Ph.D. Philanthropic Gift Fund
  • Chuck and Pam Lyford Fund
  • Cindy and Peter Urbanowicz Philanthropic Gift Fund
  • Damon A. Noller Community Fund
  • Fred and Gayle Bieker Family Fund
  • Joe and Patty Marshall Family Fund
  • Pat and Lisa McMurray Family Fund
  • The Stafford Memorial Fund
  • Thomssen Family Fund

Checks can be mailed to Idaho Community Foundation, 210 W State St., Boise, ID 83702. Donations can also be made through Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT). One hundred percent of donations received will go to organizations helping those in need.

Working together in the effort are: Idaho Community Foundation, United Way of Treasure Valley, Idaho Nonprofit Center and United Ways throughout Idaho, including: Twin County United Way (Lewiston), United Way of Idaho Falls and Bonneville County, United Way of Moscow/Latah County, United Way of North Idaho, United Way of South Central Idaho and United Way of Southeastern Idaho.
