An update from the
Idaho Community Foundation

Dear Philanthropists, Friends and ICF Partners,

We sincerely hope you and the people you care about are well.

As you all are aware and experiencing, the COVID-19 coronavirus has taken over daily lives and normal activities. And it has also offered the opportunity for communities to come together in a unique and unprecedented manner. The board and staff at the Idaho Community Foundation are poised and ready to help.

There are several ways we are providing support to our nonprofit community and those affected by the virus. We have partnered with the United Ways of Idaho and the Idaho Nonprofit Center to create the COVID-19 Response Fund for Idaho. This statewide fund will give grants to trusted organizations in every region of our state that are supporting low-income, vulnerable people and families affected by the financial impacts of the virus.

We also encourage you to continue to provide direct support to the nonprofit organizations you care about most. If you have an ICF fund, please contact Lisa Bearg to learn more about how to use your fund to channel support directly where it's needed.

On a related note, you may be wondering how we are managing our charitable funds with the instability of the stock market. We have been in close contact with our fund managers and our Investment Subcommittee. Our endowed investment portfolio is constructed with a focus on the long term. As we have often said, these investments are a marathon, not a sprint. Our non-endowed investments are diversified for other factors and impacts differ depending on their intended time horizon.

We maintain a disciplined investment policy for all of our investments and are well-positioned to weather this storm until the markets recover. We are staying the course.

For the safety of our staff, we have closed our Boise office until further notice, and our entire team will work remotely. Our North Idaho and East Idaho offices have operated remotely for several years, so we are technologically prepared to remain open for business despite our physical closure. We will continue to distribute grants every week, accept donations and help Idahoans.

We remain steadfast in our commitment to be the leading charitable foundation making positive impact in Idaho communities and that is more important now than it has ever been. As always, we appreciate your partnership and thank you for your trust. Together we can come out of this crisis and continue to enrich the quality of life throughout Idaho. Be well.
