One of the most meaningful parts of the Idaho Community Foundation's (ICF) work is standing alongside communities when they need support, partnership, and a path forward.
That's where we find ourselves today in Twin Falls.
As the community continues to navigate the aftermath of the August 1 tragedy, local leaders are coming together to create a permanent memorial that honors the lives taken, recognizes everyone impacted, and provides a place for remembrance, reflection, and healing. We are honored to be part of that effort alongside the Twin Falls Community Foundation and the City of Twin Falls.
This project will begin the same way healing often does: by listening.
The City of Twin Falls is leading a thoughtful community process that will invite families, survivors, first responders, and community members to help shape the memorial's design, location, and long-term vision. Their voices will guide the work, helping ensure the memorial reflects the hopes, wishes, and experiences of those most deeply affected.
At ICF, we believe communities are strongest when they come together around a shared purpose. That's why we partnered with the Twin Falls Community Foundation, our newest affiliate, to establish a memorial fund that will support the work ahead.
The fund will help cover memorial-related expenses, including planning, design, construction, accessibility, communications, and long-term stewardship. To help get the project started, ICF contributed $20,000 in seed funding.
That's what makes community foundations so powerful: people who know and love their communities are the ones helping shape their future.
This effort is especially meaningful because it marks the first major collaboration between ICF and the Twin Falls Community Foundation since its affiliation. While we're a statewide organization, our work has always been rooted in local leadership. That's what makes community foundations so powerful: people who know and love their communities are the ones helping shape their future.
In Twin Falls, that spirit is already at work.
What began as a desire to create a space for remembrance is becoming something larger: a lasting place where people can gather, reflect, honor loved ones, and find connection. A place that acknowledges loss while also speaking to the strength and resilience of a community moving forward together.
We are grateful for the opportunity to walk alongside Twin Falls in this work. It is a privilege to support a project that will help preserve memories, honor lives, and create a lasting place of healing for generations to come.
Community members can learn more, sign up for updates, and contribute to the memorial fund at the project website.
