For many people in rural Southwest Idaho and Eastern Oregon, a cancer diagnosis comes with challenges that extend far beyond treatment. Long travel distances, financial strain, and limited support systems can make an already difficult journey even harder.
That is where Angel Wings Network steps in.
Founded in Weiser by a breast cancer survivor who witnessed firsthand how many patients were facing cancer alone, the organization was built on a simple belief: no one should have to walk the cancer journey alone.
Today, Angel Wings Network provides free transportation to treatment appointments, fuel and meal assistance, comfort care packages, emotional support, and vital resources for cancer patients, caregivers, survivors, and their families across rural Southwest Idaho and Eastern Oregon. Their work helps remove barriers to care while providing comfort, hope, and connection during one of life's most challenging seasons.

The organization's impact is felt across dozens of communities. In 2025 alone, volunteers donated more than 17,200 hours and drove over 42,000 miles to help patients access life-saving treatment. Angel Wings also provided more than $42,000 in fuel assistance and more than $40,000 in grocery and meal support, helping ease the financial burden many families face while undergoing treatment.
Through the dedication of its volunteers, donors, and community partners, Angel Wings Network continues to be a source of hope, compassion, and practical support for rural cancer patients.
As October's featured nonprofit for The 208 Way, we are honored to spotlight an organization that is ensuring more Idahoans and their families never have to face cancer alone.
This month, donations will be matched up to $3,000! Give now!
