The Fourth Quarter

Football teams from Idaho's four-year colleges

The other night I watched the Boise State-Washington State football game. At the end of the third quarter the score was tied 10-10 and both teams seemed pretty evenly matched. Then in the fourth quarter, Boise State scored three touchdowns for a lopsided final score of 31-10.

A lot can happen in the fourth quarter.

The same is true for philanthropy. A disproportionate number of charitable funds are created at the Idaho Community Foundation (ICF) during the fourth quarter of the calendar year. That makes sense. People’s tax picture becomes clearer, the holidays spark their giving spirit, and new Idahoans look for ways to get involved in their communities.

The clock is ticking, but there’s still plenty of time to make a play. You can set up your own ICF charitable fund or contribute to an existing one. The process is simple:

  1. Reach out to work with one of ICF’s regional Philanthropic Advisors
  2. During an in-person or virtual meeting, we’ll ask about your philanthropic goals
  3. Then, we’ll work with you to determine the fund type that helps you reach those goals

The entire process takes about two weeks, so there’s still time to get into the end zone and finish the year on a philanthropic high note!

Eventually, the Broncos’ season will end. But a charitable fund established in the closing months of 2026 can keep making an impact long after the final whistle, supporting your community and the local nonprofits changing lives.

Now’s a great time to connect with an ICF Philanthropic Advisor. And because the game isn’t over yet, go Broncos! Go Vandals! Go Bengals! And go Yotes!
