What Is a
Field of Interest Fund?

A Field of Interest Fund lets you, and your community, focus giving on the causes and issue areas you care about most. It is a powerful way to support an issue area or community rather than a single organization.

East Idaho

How to Start a Fund

Starting a Field of Interest Fund is straightforward. Our Philanthropic Advisors will help you define your area of interest, determine the right fund structure, and connect your giving to the organizations making the greatest impact in that space.

Contact us to schedule a conversation about how a Field of Interest Fund can channel your generosity where it matters most.

Endowed vs. Non-Endowed Funds

Endowed Field of Interest Fund

An endowed fund is designed to last forever. Your contributions are invested for long-term growth, and a portion of the earnings is distributed annually to organizations working in your chosen field.

  • Creates a permanent source of support for your area of interest
  • Annual grants are made from investment earnings, preserving the principal
  • Your fund grows over time, increasing its impact

Minimum to establish: $25,000 (can be pledged over five years)

Non-Endowed Field of Interest Fund

A non-endowed fund gives you more immediate flexibility. Contributions can be distributed over a set period or spent down entirely, making it a good option for donors who want to address a specific need within their chosen field.

  • Distributions can exceed investment earnings
  • Fund can be spent down over time
  • Ideal for responding to urgent needs or time-limited opportunities

Minimum to establish: $25,000
